When Do You Need a WCAG Audit?
An audit gives you an evidence-based baseline. These are the moments teams most often ask for one.
Legal or Compliance Pressure
A demand letter, a complaint or a new regulation such as the ADA. Know your real exposure and what to fix first.
A Buyer Asked for a VPAT
Procurement teams want evidence. An audit gives your VPAT a defensible basis.
Before a Launch or Redesign
Catch barriers in templates and components before they spread across every page.
Entering a Regulated Market
Section 508, ADA, EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act all build on WCAG.
Setting an Accessibility Baseline
Measure where you are today so you can plan, budget and show progress.
Verifying Past Fixes
Confirm earlier remediation actually works and has not regressed after new releases.

What a WCAG Audit Evaluates
WCAG is organized around four principles, often called POUR. Every success criterion we test falls under one of them.
Perceivable
Can users perceive the content through sight, hearing or touch?
- Text alternatives
- Captions and transcripts
- Color contrast
- Reflow and resize
Operable
Can users operate every control without a mouse or with limited dexterity?
- Keyboard access
- Focus visibility
- Target size
- Time limits
Understandable
Is the content and the interface predictable and easy to follow?
- Clear labels
- Error handling
- Consistent navigation
- Readable language
Robust
Does the code work with browsers and assistive technology, now and later?
- Name, role, value
- ARIA use
- Status messages
- Valid structure
What Is New in WCAG 2.2?
WCAG 2.2 adds new success criteria at Levels A and AA. Our audits cover all of them.
| Success criterion | Level | What it asks for |
|---|---|---|
| 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) | AA | A focused element is not completely hidden by sticky headers, banners or chat widgets. |
| 2.5.7 Dragging Movements | AA | Anything that needs dragging also works with a simple pointer action. |
| 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) | AA | Pointer targets are at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, or have enough spacing. |
| 3.2.6 Consistent Help | A | Help options appear in the same place across pages. |
| 3.3.7 Redundant Entry | A | Users are not asked to re-enter information they already gave in the same process. |
| 3.3.8 Accessible Authentication (Minimum) | AA | Logging in does not depend on a cognitive test such as memorizing or transcribing a code. |
WCAG 2.2 also removes criterion 4.1.1 Parsing. Everything else from WCAG 2.1 still applies. Learn more on our WCAG compliance page.
